Thanks to the support of the the James S. and John L. Knight Foundation, the 2018 Macon Film Festival will feature an interactive and immersive audience experience with the addition of the Virtual Reality Shorts category of competition. Beginning in July, festival attendees will have the opportunity to sign up and reserve screening block time to view this year's official selection Virtual Reality Shorts and vote for their favorite film. As an added bonus, special VR inspired giveaways will be available to festival attendees participating in this year's Virtual Reality Shorts showcase!
Virtual Reality filmmakers are encouraged to submit their work to the upcoming festival for a chance to introduce our festival audience to the world of immersive cinema. Official selection VR filmmakers will be eligible to win cash prizes and apply for festival travel stipends. The 2018 Macon Film Festival call for submissions runs through March 30th. Interested filmmakers must submit their films online via FilmFreeway or Withoutabox.
